Translation of Alsted Runestone

(June 18, 2023) This runestone had a Christian cross put on it about 500 years after it was made just prior to it being used as a dedication stone for the Fjenneslev church. By this time the native people would not have been able to read the runes yet they still held the runestone to be a sacred ancestral object having spiritual power.

This text is complaining that none of the motion magic sources (astrology and emotion) are working. The motion source goddess of both (Selu, Selene) is not being allowed to do so by the fate defined by astrology magic represented by the full moon god Su. Fate is like this not because of some fate curse but because Su in not being properly honored.

Emanations (rain) are not getting involved in emotion-energy. Emanations are not threaded by astrology-magic (either). Emanations of omens do not emanate enlightenment's involvement : The Greaser (Selu, Selene) is threading the high-life-powers (but) those emanations are lacking omens : Astrology-magic opens emotion-owls. Fertility-fluids are lacking nourishments from Su. The Observer (Su) can celestial-heal Hu's emanations : Those emanations don't properly-allocate the replacements. Proper-allocations can be life-manifested by astrology-magic's energy : Fate-curses are not involved.

Context

This runestone was found in 1971 under the western tower of the Fjenneslev Church. This church was part of the Alsted-Fjenneslev chapelry (parish) in Soro County, Denmark. When this chapelry was merged with the Slaglille-Bjernede church. Slaglille became the new main parish and Alsted-Fjenneslev was reduced to an annex. After this deactivation a runestone was discovered in the nave of the west tower. The runestone was placed in the church's cemetery to the left of the church porch.

Fjenneslev parish is in the southern part of the Alsted Hundred (Herred) which gave the runestone its name. Soro county is the eastern most island of Denmark.

Alsted Church

Alsted Church is a small village church without a steeple composed of a Romanesque chancel and nave. The church is in a rather special location, 500 metres from the fiord with a lovely view of Himmerland, Fur and Livø. Of older inventory there is a pulpit from around 1625 and two pews with coat of arms.

Fjenneslev Church Where the Runestone Was Found

According to historical sources, Fjenneslev was the Hvide dynasty’s ancestral homestead. Any place name in Danish that ends with ‘-lev’ predates the Viking era. The present core building of the Fjenneslev church was raised one Asser Rig around 1130. After Asser Rig died the towers were added by his sons, Esbern Snare and Bishop Absalon. The runestone was found under the western tower.
