Old Irish Runes Prior to Bardic Revolution

(December 25, 2024) The Bardic revolution came about shortly after Christian Normans took control of Ireland in 1200 CE and suppressed Irish Druidry and Irish Christianity in favor of the Roman Catholic Church. At that time, Druid Akkadian runes in the Old Irish letter style were adapted for use by the locally spoken Celtic Irish language thus changing their sound representations. These changes were locally standardized by local courtly bards who also helped keep Druid and local folk traditions alive by incorporating Akkadian phrases as names into their tales.
